Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.” 

La vie te brisera. Personne ne peut te protéger de cela, et vivre seul non plus, car la solitude te brisera aussi avec sa nostalgie. Tu dois aimer. Tu dois ressentir. C'est la raison pour laquelle tu es ici sur terre. Tu es là pour risquer ton cœur. Tu es là pour te faire avaler. Et quand il arrive que tu sois cassé, trahi, ou abandonné, ou blessé, ou que la mort balaye tout près, assieds-toi près d'un pommier et écoute les pommes tomber en tas tout autour de toi, dilapidant leur douceur. Dis-toi que tu en as goûté autant que tu as pu.
